Book TV
Now we know CNN is a conservative mouthpiece and we know Reagan got rid of the fairness doctrine so the other side does not get equal time, but would it be too much trouble to just forget about politics on this one cheap show and let people promote books on some other subjects? If not that, please stop the reruns so more writers could get a chance. I've already heard Schweizer complain about how Barbra Steisand has an air-conditioned barn and Michael Moore has a portfolio of stock including some in Halliburton (money not taken from the public trust). Or David Brooks claiming that people who deal with numbers become Republicans and people who deal in paragraphs become Democrats, as though bankers are superior to writers. How about some new blood?

How about some new, unbiased, news media?

Do you ever listen to books on tape? I get them through our library and listen to them while I am doing laundry, most housework or just out on a walk. I've gone through 1000's and my library will get anything in that I request. Thought you might like this too.

R. J. - Now lets be realistic, that just ain't going to happen.
Mary: Our library just has fiction books on tape. Interlibrary loan is a great idea.

Flimsy, actually I got into a bit of trouble offering David Brooks some new blood ... my suggesting involved letting some of that already in his veins. The man is surprisingly sensitive on the issue.
Go figure!
So long as news programs are sponsored by commercial enterprises, it's highly unlikely we'll see much that might discomfit them or their bought and paid for representatives in government. Increasingly I try to triangulate by reading what the foreign press is saying -- certainly they, too, have biases, but I figure a different set of biases is at least a different filter.
Books on tape are the greatest! I used to carry books on walks and read while walking -- endless unintended encounters between nose and street signs, shins and parked cars, ankles and undetected potholes, etc., finally induced me to switch to taped books. Safer for me AND the world!

Xristim: My uncle was a politics addict and read constantly - even while driving an 18 wheeler. How safe was that?
