Jacques Maritain once said, “You can tell what God thinks of money by the sort of people he gives it to!” And by the sort of people who, when it isn't given, have no hesitation in heisting it. Still, if only honest men could hold elective office, we would, in fact, be living in anarchy! I suppose I could settle for a little crookedness if it were accompanied by a great deal of competence -- we seem to have ended with the reverse.
