Flimsy Sanity: Oil Field Patch People

Flimsy Sanity

In individuals, insanity is rare; but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the rule. - Friedrich Nietzsche

Oil Field Patch People

I am so sick of people bitching about oil people. Everyone goes where the money is - that is how we survive. Even if they spend it on booze and gambling, it is their money and their right.

Someone from the railroad was complaining about the caliber of people that come with the oil field and I just nodded and smiled, but I wanted to say that I heard all railroad people were drunks. So it goes - occupation prejudice - how stupid is that.

Everyplace populated by young people seems to draw criticism. College towns, Air Bases and dangerous work like oilfield work is predominently young people. The locals excuse their own children that party alot, but they expect strangers to uphold a higher ideal.

When I was growing up, the only new people who came to town were oil field and they were exciting because they were unknown. My brother's in-laws came with the oil field and you cannot find nicer, more ethical people.
