Flimsy Sanity: Who is More Insane, George or Osama?

Who is More Insane, George or Osama?

They both think government and religion belong together, both gain money or converts by keeping the war going, and both think less taxes is great even as we plummet into deep debt. Fox News says Osama sounds just like the democrats because he talked of global warming, corporate control of America, and used the word "neocon" and maybe Osama does have flashes of cognisance. At least he might know the correct name of the conference the taxpayers paid to fly his ass half way across the earth and wouldn't call it OPEC. In general, reality is illusive to both most of the time.

If we raised taxes to pay as you go for the Iraq war, would the Republicans want to get out?

Lots of people think that if we had a draft and the middle and upper class had to suffer for it, their attitudes would change and we wouldn't wage wars quite so easily. I think taking their money would be quicker.

When we did have the draft, rich people got out of it through lots of channels. It has always been the poor that are the cannon fodder. In the Civil War, rich people hired poor people to take their place.

I've often been impressed with some of what bin Laden says. As you rightly point out, both he and Bush make the mistake of confusing politics and religion. Just because he's a "terrorist" doesn't mean everything he says or thinks is wrong, but people forget that. They also forget he originally denied any involvement in 9/11, only jumping on the bandwagon when it was obvious he was going to be blamed for it anyway.I agree with raising taxes, but not to pay for Bush's war. It's time that was brought to an end and the Iraqis allowed to rebuild the country their way. There's plenty of need for tax money here in America. Helping the poor and healing the sick would be a start.

RJ: You chide me for watching documentaries, but BBC's "The Power of Nightmares" says that even the name Al Queda was made up. Osama loses my attention when he starts in about Allah, but then so does Bush when he invokes God's name.

He does the same thing Bush (and all good sociopaths do) and mixes truths, half-truths, and lies to lure people in. The only real difference is we have more laws and institutions that prevent Bush from reaching his full potential.

We'd all be better off without both of them.

Oh! "Chide" is way too strong a word. I love documentaries, just don't have the time to watch as many as I'd like - especially those you recommend, which are inevitably the best. I agree with you ad NYM, we'd be better off without both Bush and bin Laden.
